In
order to achieve the State’s involvement in Export Sector,
Government of India decided to provide a share of the export earning
to each State based on its export performance. The fund so allotted
can be utilized by the State Government for creation of infrastructure
facilities like new Export Promotion Industrial Parks, Electronic
and other related infrastructure, equity participation in Special
Economic Zone, EPIPs, EPZs, construction of roads, stabilizing
power supply, development of minor ports and jetties and common
effluent treatment plants etc. Each Project are being implemented
through the Nodal agency of each State nominated by the respective
State Government.
The
nodal agency in Kerala is Kerala Industrial Infrastructure development
Corporation (KINFRA) and the Secretary (Industries) has been nominated
as Export Commissioner. The Government of India also directed
to constitute a State Level Export Promotion Committee (SLEPC)
with Chief Secretary as its chairman in each State.
KINFRA
has made presentation about the scheme at various places like
Trivandrum, Kollam etc., and also details of the scheme were sent
to all the Commodity Boards, Export Promotion Councils, Trading
Organisations, Chambers of Commerce and Industry with a view to
inform about the financial assistance available under this scheme.
A series of discussions were also held at various places to disseminate
the information with a view to get more Projects for availing
this facility. Secretary (Industries) has also taken up with Commodity
Boards and Promotion Councils to get more projects for the financial
assistance under the scheme.
KINFRA
has received the following project proposals and the SLEPC meetings
held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary considered
and approved as per the details given below.
MARINE
PRODUCTS EXPORT DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (MPEDA)
Assistance
of a total amount of Rs. 633 lakhs is proposed be provided under
the Scheme for the projects of Marine Products Export Development
Authority, against the total investment of Rs. 1443 lakhs. An
amount of Rs.627.00 lakhs has been disbursed to M/s MPEDA.
Setting
up 30 pre-processing centers in major Fish processing regions
in Kerala -
Total amount disbursed -Rs.90 lakhs.,
8 pre-processing centers completed
An amount of Rs.17 Lakhs has been utilized out of the Rs.90 lakhs
disbursed under the ASIDE scheme.
Up
gradation of laboratory in MPEDA for Anti-biotic Assay in Seafoods
Total
amount of Rs.140.00 lakhs released and has been fully utilised
for setting up the lab.
Upgradation
of Munambam Fisheries Harbour -
Total amount of Rs. 227 lakhs is disbursed and work is in progress
THE
SEA FOOD EXPORTERS ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
Setting
up of a Central quality Control Laboratory for specialized Seafood
testing as per European Union standards and Fishing Harbor.
Total
project cost is Rs.350 lakhs
Total assistance sought Rs. 315 lakhs.
The total amount of Rs.315 lakhs has been disbursed and the project

Up
gradation of electricity distribution system in the proposed town
