National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP)
Under the directions of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), Govt. of India, a National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP) has been constituted. MOFPI is involved in providing the required inputs for growth and development of food processing industries. In order to ensure an effective means to facilitate growth of food processing industries, MOFPI has effected decentralization of some of its schemes under NMPF in the 12th Five Year Plan so as to give the States a greater role in administration of these schemes. Accordingly the States are required to constitute State Food Processing Missions (SFPM) at each State level and District Food Processing Mission (DFPM) at each district.
Food Processing Mission in Kerala
Govt. of Kerala has already constituted the State Food Processing Mission, Kerala (SFPMK) and District Food Processing Missions for each District.
Schemes under Food Processing Mission
As per MOFPI directives, the following schemes under the 11th Five Year Plan guidelines will be continued for the year 2012-13 (first year under 12th five year plan).
- Scheme for Technology Upgradation/setting up/ Modernization/Expansion of Food Processing Industries
- Scheme for supporting Cold Chain Facilities for Non Horticultural Products and Reefer Vehicles
- Schemes for Human Resource Development
- Creation of Infrastructure Facilities for running Degree/Diploma Certificate Courses in Food Processing Technology
- Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)
- Food Processing Training Center (FPTC)
- Schemes for Promotional Activities.
- Organizing Seminars/Workshops
- Conducting Studies/Surveys
- Support to Exhibitions/Fairs
- Advertisment&Publicity
